Located in Saint Augustine Florida “Mitzi” is a 1977 classic immaculately maintained. This Alberg 37 Mkii with low engine hours, and set for solo sailing, is ready for any intrepid buyer. After its full refit in July 2024 and the diligent stewardship of her previous owner, she is more than ready for whatever adventure calls. Built by Whitby Boat Works, the Alberg 37 MKII is as classic and as capable as it gets. A medium-heavy displacement blue water cruiser with a sleek build, these boats make for the quintessential racer-cruiser on a budget. Introduced in 1967 the boat draws from its designer's background and brings to the influence from Scandinavian folkboats and classic 60s sailing yachts. She features interior woodworking no longer seen in the construction of similar vessels. Down below, her solid fiberglass hull has a full keel design with a large raked rudder, capable of any blue water passage.
Walkthrough
From the dock Mitzi strikes a dazzling impression, decks kept sparkling showing off her newly refinished teak emphasizing the sleekness of her lines. Stepping aboard the sturdy and well ordered decks, new stainless portlights sparkle and all lines run seamlessly to a confluence in the cockpit perfect for single handed piloting. Under the royal blue bimini is a comfortable cockpit with helm nav console, deep storage lazarettes and a beautiful windvane to aft.
Down the companionway Mitzi’s salon is replete with classic charm in her features and woodworking. The upholstery and wood interior are as well kept as the ship’s exterior; there is plentiful storage in the shelves port and starboard with additional and extensive storage beneath due to the upgrade from blackwater plumbing to a brand new green compost system.
Beneath the companionway, the engine and engine room are kept most pristine of all. Fully upgraded and refinished during the ships last refit; the engine was pulled and serviced, the antiquated 70s water heater removed and engine room repainted; much like the antiquated electrical wiring, itself fully replaced with a new wiring and a Blue Sea 8101 120 volt panel.
Starboard of the companionway, the galley has the necessary essentials in good working order. The four burner stove is flanked by the salon’s picturesque stained glass bar to the left and the freezer/ refrigerator box to right with plenty of space for a cutting board.
To port is a deep side berth, with a chart table/ command and electrical panel. This is where the new Blue Sea 120 volt panel upgrade is on full display. The AC inverter is in back of this berth with room for batteries.
The main berth and head are to the bow. On your way to the cabin you're greeted with a closet and the ship’s head and shower, carrying on into a comfortable and surprisingly spacious V berth cabin. The cabin features even more storage below and to the sides. There is ventilation from the deck in the cabin and throughout the boat.
With all the essentials for coastal cruising don’t wait- schedule your showing today!
