The profile creates almost a “sport sedan” look for the 41DS, and it’s large polished-aluminum windows definitely sets the DS apart from its sister ships. As a result, the bright main cabin has a spectacular 6’10” of headroom. The voluminous ceilings are covered with a light fabric called Whisper-Air, which combined with the increased light entering from the sizeable newer style windows to produce a comfortable, bright and open feel. Ocean Air designer shades cover the windows when privacy is desired and add a nice decorative touch. Durable and handsome Everwear laminate teak and holly look flooring covers all the floors. The 41DS maintains the 41’s sail plan and hull shallow draft wing keel design (5ft) . The B and R rig with large mainsail and smaller headsail is a Hunter Trademark , and all the running rigging is within reach of the cockpit to make sailing single-handed a breeze. The new furling mainsail adds tremendously to this advantage. The overhead innovative traveler arch keeps the deck safe and uncluttered. A more vertical bow profile is utilized to maximize waterline length and decrease pitching motion.
The 41DS design has a large walkthrough cockpit with Sunbrella bimini, dodger with new isinglass panels and a full cockpit enclosure with screens. It also has cushioned seating and a center line folding table off the stainless pedestal and folding large leather wrapped folding wheel. Features also include a folding swim platform with stainless ladder, a transom shower and large Hunter exclusive stainless arch with added custom stainless davits for a reasonably sized inflatable yacht tender.
The interior is very spacious and feels larger than a normal aft cabin 41-foot monohull. It's great looking, well finished and extremely comfortable. When you enter the cabin, you find a large wrap around convertible settee with polished teak dining table port side along with a full galley with teak trimmed and veneered cabinets, Corian countertops, a Force Ten propane stove and oven, undercounter stainless refrigerator and separate stainless freezer, Origo microwave oven, plus stainless double sink. Starboard also has an extended settee with ample storage under and a large navigation chart table.
There are two luxurious staterooms. The forward guest stateroom features a double Pullman berth, under berth storage, cedar lined storage hanging lockers, a dresser, and a mirrored Corian countertop vanity with stainless sink. There’s a forward separate guest head with seat and shower stall. This is a great forward layout and one of the reasons many choose this efficient user-friendly layout over a typical V berth.
The aft master stateroom has a queen berth with upgraded topper mattress, with ample storage throughout, including cedar lined hanging lockers, a mirrored dresser etc… There’s an aft head with two doors, a Corian topped vanity and a glassed door separate shower stall.

Marcy was born in upstate New York, then moved to Jacksonville, FL, where she fell in love with the beach and beach lifeâ¦until Jaws came out and she saw it at the drive-in with her parents. Her childhood took her back the upstate New York, where she grew up a âLake Girlâ boating aboard a 1977 family-owned Bayliner Liberty on Seneca Lake. Summers were spent on Devilâs Lake, in the Frontenac Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. Her experience then revolved around power boats and canoes, and she was always on the water enjoying the fresh air, exploring, fishing, swimming and basking in the camaraderie that comes with making friends on the water. While gathering drinking water and provisions in Westport, Ontario, on these summer trips, she was always fascinated with the cruisers that were docked on Upper Rideau Lake. Seeing the names and ports of call was always the highlight of these visits to town. Marcy has the sea in her veins, and naturally evolved to enjoy sailing on bluewater cruising boats as an adult. Â
Marcy holds a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of New York and an MS in Business Management from Northern Illinois University. She worked for 15 years as a Business Engineering Manager for UPS, and 11 years in Finance & Operations in public administration, while raising her two daughters just outside of Chicago. In 2020, Marcy answered the call of the sea and travelled to Florida to be one of the three founders of Sunshine Cruising Yachtsâan adventure that has reconnected her with the outdoors and given her a new love and appreciation for the sea and the people who travel it.Â
She earned the title of âTop Salespersonâ for SCY for four years in a row, and continues to be a team leader and integral part of the crew.Â
She covers all parts of the globe, specializing in Florida, Puerto Rico, & the Caribbean.
Both of her girls have now graduated college, and are excited to visit their mom in Florida and beyond.Â
